Khayelitsha Railway Station Interchange

The City of Cape Town is extending it’s railway network, adding two more stations in Khayelitsha – Station 4 and 4a. Our firm was appointed in a consortium of Consultants, in association with Meyer + Vorster Architects, to undertake the Concept Design for the proposed Rail Extension and Station Interchange in Khayelitsha.

The station construction commenced in 2006/7 and the Station has been completed. However, the Station Interchange project was put on hold due to land availability issues and complex tender procedures. The conceptual design proposes a station forecourt with spaces for traders and a taxi interchange with management offices.  A crèche facility and other public amenities form part of the proposed urban development framework.
